Europe 2012
With only three weeks until we leave for our 17 day vacation across Europe, I thought I’d mention that while on this trip I’ll be trying to blog about what we’re doing using TravelPod… http://blog.travelpod.com/members/hensleytravels I’ll also be posting pictures and smaller posts here throughout the entire trip, wherever internet is available.

Good Start to 2012
Today I’m starting the year off right with my first international flight of the year to Guadalajara. Unfortunately this year will probably be much slower travel-wise than 2011, so I’ll have to see if I can work in a couple extra vacations at some point.

2011 Travel Recap
Looking back on my travel this year, I have to say, 2011 has been one of my busiest years ever. So far this year I’ve went on vacations to: Cozumel, Mexico South America (Peru, Argentina and Brazil) Washington, DC Allentown, PA Hawaii (Maui and the Big Island) I’ve thought about trying to fit another vacation in, but with a few upcoming work trips to Guadalajara, Mexico, I...

Big Island - Day 7
For our seventh and final day of our trip we decided to take a helicopter ride over the Big Island before taking our red-eye flight back home. After doing a bit of research on the best helicopter tour company I decided on Blue Hawaiian and we chose the Big Island Spectacular as our tour. This tour took us from Waikoloa up to the volcanoes where we were able to see some active lava flows…  ...

Big Island - Day 6
The main reason we decided to go to the Big Island was to check out Volcanoes National Park. So, since we only had a couple days here we decided to spend all of our first day at the park. After about a 2 hour drive from Waikoloa through Hilo and on to the park, we started our tour at the Jagger Museum lookout of Kilauea…                 After spending some time there we continued our drive...

Maui, HI - Day 5
The morning of day 5 I got to enjoy sleeping in for the first time on our trip while Mandy went down to the spa at the Grand Wailea for a massage. After a lazy morning we made our way to the airport to catch our Hawaiian Airlines flight to the Big Island. Once we landed on the Big Island and made it to Hertz, we noticed we were upgraded to a Mustang convertible. I was fine with this, but because...

Maui, HI - Day 4
The only thing we had planned for day 4 was a snorkel tour of Molokini Crater and a nice dinner. For the snorkel tour we chose the snorkel company Trilogy. They offer many different tours and on our tour offered both snorkel and snuba.  They started the tour off with a nice boat ride out to our first snorkel spot and fed us some cinnamon rolls and fruit along the way. Once we made it to our first...

Maui, HI - Day 3
On day 3 in Maui we decided to try our luck with driving the entire Road to Hana. The first part of the drive (up to Hana) was nice and easy. Along the way we stopped at a bunch of different lookouts to see some waterfalls and some nice views of the ocean.  One of the places we stopped at was called the Garden of Eden. At this stop they had a waterfall and some nice views. The only catch is, you...

Maui, HI - Day 2
Day 2 of our Hawaii trip started with an early morning zip-line tour of Ka’anapali.  We went through Skyline Eco-Adventures who has very funny and entertaining guides. This was my first time zip-lining so i was pretty excited to see what it was all about. After doing it, I have to say, I would definitely do it again given the opportunity.                 After our zip-line tour and a...

Maui, HI - Day 1
We started our trip with a short flight to ATL to catch our A330 to HNL. We were lucky enough to enjoy Delta’s Business Elite product for the 10 hour flight which included the standard Business Elite amenity kit, full-sized pillow, comforter, angled lie-flat seats and a Hawaii inspired menu. Here’s a quick shot of the seat controls…                                Once we...

Peru
Ever since my trip to Peru in May I’ve wanted to go back. Being able to go to Machu Picchu and hike to Intipunku (the Sun Gate) was one of, if not the, best travel experiences I’ve ever had. Here’s a picture from the Sun Gate looking down on Machu Picchu in the background… If anyone ever gets a chance to go to Machu Picchu, I recommend staying at least one night at the...

Hawaii
I just booked another tour for our upcoming trip to Hawaii. So far we have a snorkel trip of the Molokini Crater, a day trip of the Road to Hana, zipline at Ka’anapali, reservations for the Old Lahaina Luau, a helicopter ride with Blue Hawaiian and a full day tour of Volcanoes National Park. It’ll be a packed week, but we’ll get to see a lot. Only 12 more days to go!

Tomorrow’s our last day in DC, lots of museums to see. So far we’ve seen a ton of sites and took in a DC United game. Perhaps a nice steak dinner is in order tomorrow, just need to find a good steakhouse in DC.
